If you want to use the Publish UI (e.g. the snippets we generate for you) & other workflow aids like npm  syndication, currently that's all tied to our Git infrastructure. 

However, you can manage your own Git infrastructure manually. You have total control over the code on your own system: Animator reads & writes in real time to the code inside the ~/.haiku/projects  folder on your system, where you'll also find the .git  folders we use for version control. If you choose to use a different Git remote there and handle your own Git operations, you can do so.
